Job Description and Duties

The duties of the Analyst I in the Bureau of Gambling Control (Bureau) requires multi-disciplinary skills which include the ability to interpret and analyze detailed information to formulate conclusions and recommendations; work independently and as a team member; use good judgment and time management skills; effectively carryout prescribed tasks with minimal supervision; work well under pressure and meet deadlines; establish a professional working relationship with diverse groups; and possess strong oral and written communication skills.  Interpret and apply gambling laws and regulations in the review of applications for the approval and disapproval of license applications from various gambling business and third-party employees.

The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills; strong analytical skills; be able to articulate information in a clear, concise and professional manner.  Should have the ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate good judgment when interacting with the public and professional staff.  Excellent analytical and research skills; should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.  Should have the ability to manage multiple priorities/projects; possess excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and to quickly adapt to changing priorities in order to meet deadlines.  Candidate should have strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.  Ability to carry out prescribed tasks with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, flexible, have a positive attitude, and excellent attendance.

  The Statement of Qualifications is a narrative discussion of how your education, training, experience, and skills meet the minimum and desirable qualifications and qualify you for the position.  The Statement of Qualifications serves as a documentation of your ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing and should be typed and no more than two pages in length, and no less than an 11 point font. Failure to provide a SOQ could result in disqualification.

  SOQ should address your knowledge and experience to the following:

  • Ability to complete complex assignments independently and within a team setting
  • Ability to prepare status reports on project development and implementation, including ability to complete assignments that may have quick turnaround times.
