Back of House Manager (Kitchen Manager – High Volume)

Location: New Orleans, LA
Company: G’s Tasty Pizza
Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 annually (based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

G’s Tasty Pizza is seeking a hands-on Back of House Manager to lead daily kitchen operations in a high-volume, fast-paced environment .

This is not a back-office role . The ideal candidate is a strong kitchen leader who can manage operations, control costs, and work side-by-side with the team during peak service .

You will be responsible for ensuring consistency, efficiency, food quality, and team performance while maintaining a clean, organized, and professional kitchen.

Key Responsibilities 
Operations & Leadership
  • Lead and manage all back-of-house operations
  • Supervise, train, and develop kitchen staff
  • Maintain a positive, accountable, and performance-driven culture
  • Ensure smooth service flow during high-volume shifts

Cost Control & Inventory

  • Manage food cost, waste, and portion control
  • Conduct regular inventory and ordering
  • Monitor vendor relationships and product quality
  • Maintain proper storage and rotation (FIFO)

Scheduling & Labor Management

  • Create and manage staff schedules based on volume
  • Control labor cost while maintaining service efficiency
  • Adjust staffing in real-time based on business needs

 Kitchen Execution

  • Work the line during peak hours (pizza station, expo, prep as needed)
  • Ensure consistency and quality of all menu items
  • Maintain speed, accuracy, and organization during service

 Food Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ensure compliance with local and state regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment at all times

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years kitchen experience in a high-volume environment
  • At least 2 years in a leadership role (Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Food cost control
    • Inventory management
    • Labor scheduling
  • Ability to lead a team under pressure
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be hands-on and present on the line during service
Technology & Administrative Skills
  • Working knowledge of POS systems (such as Toast POS or similar platforms)
  • Ability to manage orders, track sales data, and support daily reporting
  • Intermediate computer skills (Google Docs, Sheets, email communication, basic reporting tools)
  • Ability to assist management with operational systems and digital workflows
Social Media & Business Awareness
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Google Reviews, etc.)
  • Ability to support management in promoting the business and maintaining online presence
  • Awareness of customer feedback channels and ability to communicate insights to management
  • Comfortable working with modern restaurant technology, including POS systems, online ordering platforms, and digital communication tools
