Job Description

Hospital CMO opportunity in Northwestern Washington is an exceptional chance for a physician executive to lead clinical strategy, strengthen physician engagement, and help shape the future of patient care at a highly respected community medical center. This role is ideal for an experienced medical leader who is passionate about clinical excellence, quality outcomes, and building collaborative relationships across the organization.

The Hospital CMO will join a community medical center known for delivering outstanding patient-centered care and recognized with a CMS Five-Star Rating along with the Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. This independent hospital district has built a reputation for quality, safety, and compassionate care while continuing to invest in new services and long-term growth. The Hospital CMO will become part of an organization where innovation, accountability, and teamwork are genuinely valued.

The Hospital CMO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as the senior physician executive for the organization. This leader works closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Medical Staff leadership, Board committees, and physician partners to align clinical and strategic priorities. The Hospital CMO also serves as a trusted liaison between physicians and administration while helping develop the next generation of physician leaders.

The Hospital CMO provides leadership across the organization's clinical services, partnering with physicians, nursing leaders, quality teams, infection prevention specialists, and operational departments to enhance patient outcomes. This position supports physician recruitment, workforce planning, peer review, quality initiatives, and service line development while maintaining an active clinical practice within the hospital district. The environment is collaborative, mission-driven, and focused on delivering exceptional care to the surrounding communities.

The Hospital CMO will champion patient safety, evidence-based medicine, physician engagement, and continuous quality improvement while supporting clinical excellence throughout the organization. Administrative responsibilities include collaborating on strategic planning, physician recruitment and retention, budgeting, operational performance, regulatory compliance, and the development of new programs that improve access to care. The Hospital CMO will also help strengthen relationships across medical staff and executive leadership to ensure the organization continues delivering outstanding results for patients.

Northwestern Washington offers an incredible backdrop for the Hospital CMO looking to combine executive leadership with an exceptional quality of life. From whale watching and kayaking along the coastline to vibrant summer markets, locally owned shops, art galleries, and inviting cafés, the region offers something for every season. The Hospital CMO will enjoy practicing in a welcoming coastal community that provides easy access to outdoor recreation while remaining connected to the amenities of the Pacific Northwest.

The Hospital CMO position offers Competitive Compensation, performance bonus potential, and Generous Benefits including comprehensive health coverage, retirement contributions, paid time off, tuition assistance, and student loan repayment programs. This is a rare opportunity for a Hospital CMO to make a lasting impact on physician engagement, clinical quality, and the health of an entire community while joining an organization recognized for excellence in patient care.
