Description:
is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join its Finance team in Escondido, California. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing key accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and support for capital project accounting. This position requires a detail-oriented and independent professional capable of handling complex financial tasks while contributing to process improvements and organizational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries for month-end and year-end close processes
• Performing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining accurate general ledger records
• Supporting audit preparation and maintaining organized financial documentation
• Preparing monthly financial reports, KPIs, and variance analysis reports
• Identifying financial trends and recommending operational improvements
• Managing property-related accounting including COIs, tax schedules, and exemptions
• Supporting debt, treasury, and tax compliance reporting including bank covenants
• Tracking line-of-credit activity, repayments, and interest reporting
• Assisting with capital project accounting, construction-in-progress tracking, and asset capitalization
• Ensuring compliance with nonprofit and healthcare financial reporting requirements

The ideal candidate should have strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and experience working with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. A proactive and analytical mindset with strong attention to detail is essential for success in this role.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles

Preferred qualifications:

• CPA or MBA
• Experience in nonprofit or healthcare accounting environments
• Familiarity with ERP systems and complex financial reporting structures
